Our founder, Leyden Hayes, has always been fascinated by the artistry behind homes – from iconic celebrity mansions in Beverly Hills to the timeless architectural gems scattered across America.
Leyden graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Washington and went on to earn a Master’s in Interior Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). His academic background gave him the technical knowledge, but it was his curiosity that set the stage for something much bigger.
While working as an interior design consultant, Leyden often found himself spending nights scrolling through real estate listings, watching home tours, and reading every scrap of news about how celebrities lived, decorated, and designed their spaces. That’s when it hit him — Why not create a place where all these stories live together?

From One Post to Millions of Readers
MansionFreak started with a simple obsession: I’ve always been fascinated by the homes of celebrities, luxury interiors, and the kind of design details that make people say, “Wow… I wish I could live there!”
It all began before the website even existed. I used to spend hours scrolling through magazines, Pinterest boards, and real estate listings—collecting photos of breathtaking mansions, cozy celebrity kitchens, and outdoor spaces that looked straight out of a movie. Friends would always come to me asking, “Hey, do you know what [celebrity name]’s house looks like?” — and somehow, I always did.
In 2019, I published the very first blog:
Inside Ellen DeGeneres’ Stunning California Ranch.
It wasn’t just a photo dump. It broke down the architectural style, the property’s history, and even subtle décor details.
The response?
- 50,000+ views in the first week
- Shares across design forums and celebrity fan pages

Not long after, a publicist for a Hollywood actor reached out — they wanted me to showcase their client’s new estate. The goal was not gossip, but a tasteful, design-focused piece that celebrated the home.
I delivered a deep-dive feature with:

Similarly, In 2021, a casual post on a basketball legend’s $23 million Miami mansion unexpectedly went viral. What began as a weekend write-up drew more than 2.5 million views in two weeks, sparking thousands of comments and social shares. Readers didn’t just want facts; they wanted stories. They wanted to know the why behind a home’s design choices.
That moment solidified my mission:
To make luxury homes accessible to everyone — not physically, but through vivid storytelling, beautiful visuals, and genuine curiosity.
